< Is your Spanish Water Dog too hot in the long coat? General public ask me so often >
I am asked very often, but truth is if you know what you are doing and avoid the heat, it is okay.
The key is make sure the dog is not matted (many poodle mix dogs have matted coat problems and they can not see nor feel the skin, which is very badly matted) and avoid the too warm situation like stay in under the sun, use the common sense, it is okay
Corded coat like SWD and Puli is much easier than you think, as you can make cording, but have to make sure they are not matted at all, and you have to see the skin.
Truth is if their coat is not matted, you can see the skin, and the air move through it, and if they are not in the humid country, they are okay ! In fact it protect from direct sun like southern Spain. Obviously I never ever put him in that too warm situation.
